Tasting Notes
Nose
On the nose we are greeted by the harmony of Speyside and sherry casks. Cocoa, coffee and dark caramel are in the foreground. These are joined by fresh notes of lemon and honey. There is also some fruitiness of ripe red apples. A stronger note of old, aged leather hovers in the background.
Palate
On the tongue, the oiliness surprises with its high viscosity. At first, the flavour of honey and beeswax dominates. This is followed by strong aromas of sultanas and baking cocoa, rounded off by a pleasant peppery kick. On the palate, we find a spicy, floral dryness.
Finish
The malt's farewell is rather brief. The slight bitterness of oak and the sweetness of brown sugar remain.

Frequently Asked Questions
What makes the Scallywag 10 Year Small Batch Release special compared to the standard Scallywag?
The 10-years Small Batch Release is a deliberate marriage of various Speyside malts matured in Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez sherry casks. The extended aging and sherry cask maturation impart more intense aromas of cocoa, coffee, and dark caramel, as well as increased complexity compared to the standard Scallywag.
How do the Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez sherry casks influence the flavor of this whisky?
The sherry casks give the whisky rich notes of raisins, baking cocoa, and a sweet honeyed touch. They also contribute to an oily texture and a spicy-floral dryness on the palate, which underline the character of the Speyside malt.
Who is the Scallywag 10 Year Small Batch Release particularly suited for?
This whisky is ideal for enthusiasts who appreciate complex blended malts with a balanced combination of fruity, sweet, and spicy notes. It suits both newcomers to the Speyside region and experienced whisky drinkers seeking a harmonious sherry cask influence.
