The team at 82 Chapters to Newcastle introduced a series of three different Tormore Triple Wood Malts to the market last week. This gives us an opportunity to taste their previous Tormore bottling today. Tasting Notes

Nose

Right from the first sniff, a distinct hint of cold smoke emerges. Behind it are the classic Speyside aromas: forest honey and a basket filled with autumnal fruits, including pears and apples. The intense aroma of light fruits is framed by vanilla and nearly-dried grass, akin to "almost-hay."

Palate

On the palate, this malt makes a strong impression. Surprisingly intense campfire smoke, accompanied by the fruity notes of the familiar fruit basket, with a clear inclination toward dried apples. We also detect a hint of white pepper and a subtle nuttiness. Overall, it offers a beautifully creamy mouthfeel.

Finish

The finish is even more pronounced with nutty characteristics, medium-length, and a slight smokiness, providing a delightful conclusion.

Thoughts

Marcel

Marcel 81/100 - (Excellent)

82NC presents here a truly wonderful, straightforward, and classic Speyside Single Malt. The fruity and fresh profile is exactly what we love in Bourbon cask maturation. The experience is rounded out by a pleasant, yet not overpowering, smokiness. Carried by a robust 61.6%, this is truly a work of art.
