Glenlivet 19 Years (2006/2026) - Signatory Vintage
Glenlivet sells more Single Malt than almost any other distillery in the world – and does so with a house style that focuses on gentle 40% and subtle Speyside fruit. For the Cask Strength Collection, Signatory Vintage selected a single First Fill Oloroso Sherry Butt and bottled roughly the opposite: dark, powerful, 19 years old. And with a note that cannot be found on any Glenlivet label in the world: dark soy sauce. The second joint review by Sascha and Florian.
Tasting Notes
Nose
On the nose, it starts sweetish and dark, with clear notes of cherry and plum that immediately invite the sherry influence onto the stage. Joining them is a distinctive dark soy sauce that gives the aroma profile a savory, almost piquant edge. Nutty hints round the whole thing off and ensure that the nose does not come across as merely fruity, but pleasantly layered.
Palate
On the palate, the whisky begins with lighter fruits at first, before red fruits and plum increasingly take command. Walnut brings dry depth, while salty, almost maritime notes stand surprisingly at odds with Speyside expectations. Added to this are earthy and leathery facets that give the dram structure and make it noticeably more exciting than a purely sweet sherry representative.
Finish
The finish consistently carries the sweet and red fruits forward without simply letting them fade out. Oak sweetness, leather, and earthy notes move to the forefront, accompanied by walnuts, soy sauce, and fine roasted aromas. This leaves behind a spicy, dark, and quite characterful aftertaste.
Thoughts

Sascha87/100 - (Excellent)
An excellent Glenlivet with a classic sherry orientation that ventures an exciting little side step through the striking soy sauce note. Not earth-shattering, but distinctive enough to remain in the memory.

Florian89/100 - (Excellent)
An interesting whisky that is especially appealing for its earthy and salty notes without a smoke profile. This is not a dram for casual sipping, but rather one for focused tastings and conversations centered precisely around this drop.
