Value For Money

The number of different Whiskys is almost infinite. If you are looking for a good sip, you are spoilt for choice.
We would like to give you tips on how to find the good and often comparatively cheap bottles and present our value for money winners. Whether smoky or sweet, mild or spicy - in every category there are Whiskys with a very good value for money ratio.

How much is good whisky?

Good Whisky doesn't always have to be expensive!
However, it is really difficult to find a good Whisky for less than 35 euros, let alone a very good or better one. If you increase the budget per bottle to 50 euros, you are more likely to find what you are looking for. Especially Whiskys to start with and to explore the flavour-profiles can be found in this price category.
Of course, it is also not easy to find bottlings with a higher maturity of more than 15 years for less than 50 euros. Here, however, you will quickly find what you are looking for in the category up to 100 euros.

What makes a good whisky?

Actually, this question cannot be answered objectively, as a considerable part is simply a matter of taste. If one approaches the question in a more structured way and determines in which of the flavour-profiles one is moving, large differences in quality can be objectively determined. With some bottlings you quickly realise that it was not actually ready for bottling. Other bottlings are simply too flat and offer no real profile or recognition value. Basically, a whisky with a profile, a harmonious composition, exciting aromas and at least sufficient maturity is a good whisky.
If the subjective taste is also met - excellent!

Scotch, Bourbon, Irish - which one?

It doesn't really matter. Scottish single malt (Scotch) is certainly one of the most diverse in terms of flavour-profiles, but there are still some very good compositions in the other genres. So why commit to one kind? We also have every variety in the glass - anything else would be boring.
