Popular: Value For Money

The number of different Whiskys is almost infinite. If you are looking for a good sip, you are spoilt for choice.
We would like to give you tips on how to find the good and often comparatively cheap bottles and present our value for money winners. Whether smoky or sweet, mild or spicy - in every category there are Whiskys with a very good value for money ratio.

How much is good whisky?

Good Whisky doesn't always have to be expensive!
However, it is really difficult to find a good Whisky for less than 35 euros, let alone a very good or better one. If you increase the budget per bottle to 50 euros, you are more likely to find what you are looking for. Especially Whiskys to start with and to explore the flavour-profiles can be found in this price category.
Of course, it is also not easy to find bottlings with a higher maturity of more than 15 years for less than 50 euros. Here, however, you will quickly find what you are looking for in the category up to 100 euros.

What makes a good whisky?

Actually, this question cannot be answered objectively, as a considerable part is simply a matter of taste. If one approaches the question in a more structured way and determines in which of the flavour-profiles one is moving, large differences in quality can be objectively determined. With some bottlings - like the Starward Octave Barrels The Octavius 2018 / 2021 3 Years Old - you quickly realise that it was not actually ready for bottling. Other bottlings are simply too flat and offer no real profile or recognition value. Basically, a whisky with a profile, a harmonious composition, exciting aromas and at least sufficient maturity is a good whisky. A good example is Talisker 18 Year Old.
If the subjective taste is also met - excellent!

Scotch, Bourbon, Irish - which one?

It doesn't really matter. Scottish single malt (Scotch) is certainly one of the most diverse in terms of flavour-profiles, but there are still some very good compositions in the other genres. So why commit to one kind? We also have every variety in the glass - anything else would be boring.

Our Value For Money Winners

Last month, the madmen from 82 Chapters to Newcastle released a new bottling. This time a single cask from a secret distillery in Scotland's Speyside. It's our first bottle by this independent bottler from Germany. We are beyond excited.

Benromach 10 Year Old
Rich, Dried Fruits
In recent years, the small distillery in the north-west of Scotland's Speyside has gained more and more popularity. The Benromach 10 offers a good and affordable entry.

Bulleit Bourbon 10 Year Old
Delicate, Juicy, Oak, Vanilla
Under the name Bulleit Diageo distributes a bourbon brand whose exact origin was unclear for a long time. With the 10-year-old bottling they offer one of the few core range Bourbons with an age statement.

Bunnahabhain Stiuireadair
Spicy, Maritime, Costal
Bunnahabhain Stiuireadair was created as a tribute to the sea and sailors, because without the sea and without a ship it is almost impossible to get from the island to the mainland. So we expect something very maritime.

Glen Scotia Double Cask
Delicate, Juicy, Oak, Vanilla
You hear a lot of good things about distilleries from the Scottish coastal town of Campbeltown in recent years. It's hard to have a conversation about Glen Scotia without someone steering the topic towards Springbank, which everyone agrees is better in every way. Is that really true?

Lagavulin 16 Year Old
Spicy, Maritime, Costal
The single malt whisky Lagavulin 16 Years is the best-selling bottling of the Islay distillery. Every now and then, there are even supply bottlenecks, which is rather unusual for a classic malt. Is the Scotch really that good?

Nikka Whisky From The Barrel
Delicate, Juicy, Oak, Vanilla
Since the beginning of 2021, Nikka Whisky From The Barrel can no longer officially call itself Japanese whisky. No reason not to taste the blend, we think.

Redbreast 12 Year Old
Mellow, Sweet Fruity
The Readbreast 12 from the Midleton distillery in County Cork in Ireland is a single pot still. This means that not only malted but also a proportion of unmalted barley is used in the mash. Malting barley produces enzymes that enable the yeast cultures to convert sugar into alcohol.

Scallywag Small Batch Release - Douglas Laing's
Delicate, Juicy, Oak, Vanilla
The blended Scotch Malt Whisky is supposed to be cheeky, at least that's what the name and label promise. The Scallywag is now available in a wide variety of editions and styles. We have the classic in our glasses.

Talisker 10 Year Old
Spicy, Maritime, Costal
Everyone knows it or has at least seen it in the spirits section of a well-stocked supermarket. Regular offers invite you to buy the Talisker 10 and we like to buy it and contribute to it being the best-selling whisky of the Talisker distillery.

Wild Turkey Rare Breed
Rich, Dried Fruits
Since 1991, the Rare Breed has been part of the core range of the Wild Turkey distillery. The Barrel Proof Kentucky Straight Bourbon is a blend of 6, 8 and 12 year old whiskeys, and gets bottled uncut.
