Patrisbrunna Madeira Cask 2018

Today we continue our series on Patrisbrunna Paderborn single malts. The Kö13 restaurant distributes its own small series of extremely regional own maturations. The Madeira Cask bottling matured for 4 years in Portuguese wine casks. This gives the malt a really interesting color - almost like a rosé wine.

Tasting Notes

Nose

The nose presents fresh fruity with lemon and fig. This is joined by pleasant nutty notes. Rounded off by marzipan and a wonderful maltiness. Behind it, the smell becomes intensely vinous but also a little ethanol.

Palate

The taste is wonderfully intense fruity. We think of candied red fruits and blood orange. Behind that, as was to be expected, we find malt and a hint of walnut. The distinct vinosity of the nose resonates discreetly.

Finish

In the finish in the malt rather short. With a slight tingle of oak the continuation of the nutty notes present themselves. Behind that, there is also a slight youthful spiciness.
