ABERFELDY Burns Night in Hamburg
To celebrate Burns Night, ABERFELDY transformed Hamburg into a little piece of Scotland - an evening full of music, enjoyment and hospitality.
Robert Burns (25 January 1759 - 21 July 1796) is considered Scotland's national poet and is one of the country's best-known literary figures. Born in Ayrshire, Scotland, Burns was not only a talented poet, but also a passionate advocate of freedom, equality and social justice. His most famous works include poems and songs such as "Auld Lang Syne", which is sung worldwide as a farewell song, as well as "Tam o' Shanter" and "To a Mouse". Burns mostly wrote in Scottish dialect, which helped keep the language and culture of Scotland alive in his work. In his honor, Burns Night is celebrated every year around his birthday on 25 January - a festival that honors his love of poetry, music and the Scottish way of life.

An evening of culture and tradition
Guests were welcomed by Scottish sounds: music and traditional songs created an authentic atmosphere right from the reception. During the evening, poetry and stories took visitors deep into the soul of Scotland - a tribute to Robert Burns.
Deliberate pauses between the program points gave people room to talk about Scottish customs, from the structure of a Burns Supper to the meaning of traditional toasts. Many guests had only a surface-level idea of Burns Night and experienced it here in its full cultural context for the first time. That balance of entertainment and context made the evening feel especially approachable.

Culinary highlights and the haggis ceremony
Of course, the culinary heritage was not to be missed: the traditional haggis ceremony took center stage, celebrating the Scottish national dish with poetry and passion. The menu was complemented by other classics of Scottish cuisine, offering guests an authentic moment of enjoyment. Since tradition can also be cosmopolitan, there was also a vegetarian haggis alternative that came very close to the original.

Whisky enjoyment is a must
No Scottish festival would be complete without whisky. Brand Ambassador Pierre Kruff charmingly guided guests through the world of whisky and gave them the opportunity to discover the unmistakable character of ABERFELDY whiskies. ABERFELDY presented its single malt core range, whether neat or in long drinks. As a highlight, the ABERFELDY 25 year old was served at the end of the event.
Short guided tastings explained the differences between expressions, helping newcomers map aromas and structure more confidently. The direct comparison between approachable core bottlings and deeper, older variants was especially insightful. This made the tasting feel both celebratory and educational.

A location with charm: Haller 6
The choice of location could not have been better. With its special charm, Haller 6 provided the perfect backdrop for this unique evening. The rooms were decorated with great attention to detail and emphasized the festive yet cozy atmosphere of Burns Night.
The blend of urban industrial character and warm lighting created a compelling bridge between modern Hamburg and Scottish tradition. Acoustically, the venue also worked exceptionally well: music, moderation, and conversations stayed clear and pleasant throughout the night. That helped the social atmosphere develop naturally from the very first minutes.

A celebration of encounters
In addition to the cultural and culinary highlights, one thing above all took center stage: the social get-together. Guests from all walks of life came together, exchanged ideas and enjoyed the special evening together - in the spirit of Scottish joie de vivre and warmth.
We would like to thank ABERFELDY and Bacardi for the invitation to this extraordinary Burns Night and the opportunity to experience a piece of Scotland in Hamburg.
