Springbank 15 Year Old

Smell
Upon nosing, robust fruity notes greet us immediately. We encounter a generous portion of sherry accompanied by dark chocolate, roasted dates, and a hint of caramel. In the background, there's a subtle citrus note. The velvety aroma is rounded off by light smoke and some maritime notes.
Taste
On the palate, this Springbank is also very robust. Strong spice and pleasant oak underpin a bouquet of nuts and dried fruits. Allowing it some time in the mouth reveals leathery flavors, raisins, figs, and a touch of earthiness.
Finish
The Single Malt continues its expected trajectory in the finish as well. Robust, powerful, spicy, and very long. We discover great malty sweetness and the lingering aromas of oak, leather, and sherry.
Thoughts
The craftsmanship of Springbank 15 is truly impressive. Wonderfully balanced, it presents itself as very rounded, creamy, and multi-layered. The malt is delicate yet robust. Generally, it has certainly earned the hype of recent years. However, we think it is questionable whether this justifies the already high MSRP and the truly outrageous price on the secondary market.
Rating: 85/100 - Excellent (Marcel: 84 | Sascha: 86)
