Smell

From the very first nosing, you are greeted by a fresh and light aroma. Notes of green apple and mint dominate, accompanied by a gentle vanilla and a hint of maltiness. The subtle spiciness of curry is particularly exciting and provides an unexpected depth. Overall, the nose is reminiscent of a fresh spring day with the scent of hay and grass in the air.

Taste

The first sip continues the impression of the nose, but with a surprising twist. The flavour is very light, almost watery. The green fruits are present, but there is a slight bitterness. Interestingly, there is a note reminiscent of a wet concrete wall. A hint of chalk and cobbles provides a slightly mineral component. Overall, the flavour is rather restrained and not very exciting.

Finish

The finish is short and spicy, with a slight peppery tingle on the tongue. The whisky does not linger here for long.

Thoughts

The Miltonduff Signatory Vintage 2009/2021 offers a mixture of fresh and spicy flavours that are particularly convincing on the nose. On the palate, however, it remains rather restrained and light. There are no off-flavours, but the whisky does not leave a lasting impression either. Conclusion: You can drink it, but you don't have to.
